"Music"
My music is like a road accident. It is atrocious, yet some sick people seem to be attracted to it.

There's not much more that needs to be said. Most of this stuff is done using a tracker (ModPlug, which is free).
I've acquired 4 (count them, four) dedicated fans, and several other people who say "hmm that's not awful". I am advised that they are not receiving care in the community.

If you're asking which one to download first, try Work In Progress or Every Waking Moment as everyone seems to say they're the best. Helpful and constructive criticism (like: "OMG you suck. Please stop doing this!") is always graciously received.

Requests for the original .IT, .S3M etc files
To my great surprise a few people have been asking about getting the music in it's original "tracked" form. I don't give it out, sorry. Here's my reasons:
  1. The file size is often larger than the MP3 version
  2. A lot of them use VST plugins that you might not have
  3. They're no good for learning tracking from. If you want to learn how to do it I suggest you go to www.modarchive.com and download some of the smaller tunes from there.
I'm prepared to offer up the samples though since they're mostly royalty free, if you want them then contact me. It'll probably involve you sending me a stamped envelope with your address on it and a blank CD, so I can burn them and send it back to you.

A "sad but hopeful" track that marches depressingly on, looking possibly for some lyrics or something. It's quite nicely done with some good strings in there. Worth a listen.

Loud thumping fast moving irritating and above-all dirty track using some very oldschool leads and samples straight out of the trash. Kind of industrial.

Very bored this month. Some of you may remember a classic game called Bug Eyes for the BBC Micro and possibly other 8-bits, where you played a little spaceman waddling around trying to avoid crushing stompers and various other hazards so that you could get back to your space ship before your oxygen ran out. The sequel to this game, Bug Eyes 2, had cute little beepy music going on all the time as you waddled about. Here this music is ruined, by me, free of charge. The original is by Ian Waugh.

This is the second BBC Micro music remix I've done, and I'm worried that this could turn into a habit. This definitely falls into the Just For Fun category and is of course not serious :)

Dave of stairwaytohell.com liked my Bug Eyes and Galaforce tracks enough to give them some air-time on the stairwaytohell.com news page, and suggested I have a go at doing Spellbinder's music too. So here it is. Another one just for fun.

Spellbinder was a game that will ring a bell with anyone who's played Encarta's "Mind Maze". You guide your character around a castle solving puzzles and the like while the (eventually irritating) music drones on and on in the background. The music in-game is actually a cover of Midnight Summer Dream by The Stranglers, however I didn't know this until I'd finished the track and was poking around with a hex editor to find out who did the music for the game. Huge apologies to all Stranglers fans.

The guitar stuff in this is quite obviously not my own. One very short one-second sample and CoolEdit Pro 2 for some pitch-shifting and I have a quite funky guitar lead, of which I am reasonably proud. Drum lines are of course my own (I feel guilty using drumloops). From 3mins 31secs in, it clearly rocks.

Previously unreleased, made in Reason. I've decided I don't like Reason, mainly because I'm not keen on it pretending to look like "real life" synths that don't exist in real life. If I had a few real life synths I'd probably be able to churn out much better stuff than this. Sounds like wavetable MIDI, but isn't.

Heavy amounts of bass and a lot of rasping industrial machinery samples can get quite annoying. Here is a track that proves it. Also, I'm so desperately sorry about the vocal samples, I cringe every time I hear them.
